Substrate requirements- The substrate must comply with the requirements of SP 71.13330.2017:
- Concrete, reinforced concrete, cellular concrete — age over 3 months and relative humidity no more than 4%. Cement-sand, cement-lime plasters — age 28 days and relative humidity no more than 4%. BERGAUF ISOFIX, BAU PUTZ ZEMENT, UNTER BAU, GLATTE ZEMENT, FINISH ZEMENT — age over 3 days and relative humidity no more than 6%
Surface preparation- Clean the surface of dust, dirt, efflorescence, and oil stains. Remove loose paint and plaster using sandblasting, hydro-sandblasting equipment, or a steel brush. Heavily chalking and unstable surfaces must be cleared down to a solid base mechanically or by washing with pressurized water.
- Level shallow depressions, cracks, and chips with Bergauf Finish Zement putty and sand them down. In case of surface infestation by fungus or mold, treat with a sanitizing agent following the relevant instructions. Glossy concrete surfaces (cement laitance) should be treated with a sandblaster or a steel brush to create a profile suitable for painting.
- For priming, it is permissible to use Mineral Techno Pro silicate facade paint diluted with water in a 1:1 ratio by weight.
Working conditionsThe surface to be painted must be dry and clean, the substrate temperature for the work must be from +5°C, the room temperature during paint application from +5°C to +35°C, and relative air humidity below 80%. It is recommended to use paint from the same production batch to avoid differences in the shade of the finish layer.
Material preparationStir the paint thoroughly. Stirring should be done with a wide, flat slat or a construction mixer at low speeds, carefully, avoiding the formation of air bubbles, for 1–3 minutes. It is not recommended to mix the material by shaking the closed can. After transportation and/or active stirring, if air bubbles appear, the paint needs to settle until they disappear.
Application technology- Apply the paint to a prepared dry, clean surface with a brush, roller, or spray gun evenly in 2 layers. It is recommended not to take breaks when painting a continuous surface; work using the "wet-on-wet" method at overlap points. Work should be finished at architectural boundaries (at the corners of the building, under downspouts, etc.).
- For rough surfaces such as textured plasters, brick, concrete blocks, and embossed ceilings, it is recommended to use rollers with a pile length of 12–25 mm. For coarse surfaces such as putties, plasters, and concrete, use a pile length of 8–12 mm.
- The paint is ready to use; for application by brush or roller, it can be diluted with water by no more than 5% if necessary. When diluted with water, use the paint within 4–8 hours. The quality of tap water affects the technical parameters of the material.
- To obtain a rich color and improve the appearance of the surface, it is necessary to apply two coats of paint.
PrecautionsAvoid exposure to direct sunlight and high humidity conditions during work. Upon completion of work, wash hands and tools thoroughly with warm water.
Liquid potassium glass enters into a chemical reaction with glass, ceramics, glaze, metals, lacquer coatings, etc. These surfaces and elements must be covered before painting. In case of accidental painting of these surfaces, immediately clean the contamination with water.
