* Material consumption depends on the quality of surface preparation, the method of application, the tool used, the contractors’ qualifications, and may differ from the values indicated.
** Some content of particles that differ from the base color is permitted, which does not affect the product's technical characteristics. This is explained by the presence in the composition of fillers of natural origin.
*** The stated quality indicators and recommendations are valid for an ambient temperature of +20°C and a relative air humidity of 60%. Under other conditions, drying time and adjustments may differ from those stated.
Purpose and properties
High-quality ready-to-use acrylic plaster for use in facade thermal insulation systems based on mineral wool and expanded polystyrene (excluding plinths), as well as for finishing indoors in dry and damp rooms in buildings and structures of types A, B, and C.
Technical features
Colorable in pastel and intense colors. Resistant to shrinkage crack formation. Easy to apply and structure. Durable and weather-resistant. Vapor-permeable.
Tinting
The decorative plaster is supplied as a base and can be color-matched by computer (machine) to colors from the RAL, NCS and other color catalogs. Manual color-matching is also possible using colorants based on water, which have high light and weather resistance. It is recommended to add no more than 5% colorant, since overdosing it adversely affects the strength and the workability of applying the coating.
The organization performing the tinting is responsible for the tinting result.
Color rendering characteristics
Depending on the application conditions, as well as the texture of the surface being painted, the actual color shades may differ slightly from those shown in the color catalog. Before use, it is necessary to perform a test application and check the dried coating for color conformity.
To avoid differences in shade, it is recommended that on one visible surface you use a product from a single production batch (batch number is indicated on each package) or pre-mix materials from different batches in a 1:1 ratio; the application technology must remain unchanged.
Color recommendations
BERGAUF FACADE GRUNT primer is recommended to be applied in a color close to the color of the plaster being used.
Application on facades of materials in intense or dark colors with a reflection coefficient of less than 25% should be limited to small surfaces occupying no more than 10% of the facade, for example, individual architectural details.
Application technique
Work must be carried out in accordance with SP 293.1 325 800.2017.
Before applying the plaster, it must be thoroughly mixed, as during storage the product may separate. Thinning the plaster with water is allowed in an amount of no more than 5% of the material’s mass.
Apply the plaster with a stainless steel trowel at an angle of 60° to the surface; the layer thickness should match the plaster grain size. Within 25−35 minutes after application (depending on temperature and humidity), form the required texture using a plastic trowel. The plastic trowel should be held parallel to the surface and the texture should be formed with light movements, without pressing.
Methods of forming the texture:
The «lamb» texture is formed by circular movements. The «horizontal bark beetle» texture is formed by left-to-right movements. The «vertical bark beetle» texture (rain) is formed by upward-and-downward movements. The «crossed bark beetle» texture is formed in 2 stages: first, diagonal movements are made from the upper right to the lower left; as a result, long and short lines should be obtained, then a crosswise pattern is applied by transferring the upper left to the lower right.
Features of performing the work
If it is necessary to stop work, masking tape is applied along the boundary of the plaster layer; it must be removed before the plaster hardens. To obtain a uniform texture, ensure a sufficient number of workers at each level of the scaffolding and perform the connection of sections between adjacent levels using the «wet-on-wet» method.
After application, in the first 2−3 days, decorative plaster should be protected from direct sunlight, wind, and rain. Under such conditions, it is recommended to cover the scaffolding with a special mesh or film, and to install drip edges on the building. Do not allow freezing or drying out.
Interior finishing should be carried out only in well-ventilated rooms, and after the work is completed, maintain air circulation until the coating is completely dry.
Subsequent work
To color the surface of decorative plaster, it is recommended to use acrylic, silicone, or silicate paints. Painting is carried out no earlier than after 3–5 days, depending on the environmental conditions.
Tinting
Tinting is possible using water-based tinting pastes with high resistance to light and atmospheric conditions, in accordance with NCS, RAL and other tinting systems. Depending on the application conditions, as well as the texture of the surface being painted, the actual shades of the colors may differ slightly from those shown in the color catalog.
It is recommended to add no more than 5% of the tinting agent, since overdosing it negatively affects the strength and workability of applying the coating. To avoid color variation, it is recommended to use a product from the same production batch on one surface (batch number is indicated on each package) or to pre-mix materials from different batches in a 1:1 ratio; the application technology must remain unchanged.
The organization carrying out the tinting is responsible for the tinting result. Before use, a test application must be performed and the dried coating must be checked for color conformity.
Color recommendations
The primer «Bergauf FACADE GRUNT» is recommended to be used in a color close to the color of the plaster used.
Use on facades of materials in intense or dark colors with a reflection coefficient of less than 25% should be limited to small areas occupying no more than 10% of the facade, for example, individual architectural details.
Cleaning the tools
Clean tools with water immediately after use. If the tools were not cleaned immediately, they can then only be cleaned mechanically.
Limitations
It is forbidden to work in atmospheric precipitation, fog, as well as on wet surfaces after rain and at temperatures below +5°С and above +35 °C.
Safety
Attention! The product is fire- and explosion-safe and does not contain flammable components.
Storage and transportation conditions
If the warranty conditions are met, the storage period in a closed factory package is 18 months from the date of manufacture. Store and transport in tightly sealed containers at a temperature of at least +5° C and not more than +30° C. Protect the product pail from excessive heating and avoid storage in direct sunlight.
Attention!
Up to five freeze-thaw cycles with a total duration of no more than three weeks are allowed at a temperature not below minus 20ºС.
